Andrew Sies

7th, 8th, 10th Bible/Theology

Mr. Sies is a Texas native and has been married to his wife, Sara, for seven years. He and his wife are the proud parents of their daughter Sophia with baby number two on the way in Spring 2025. They are members at All Saint Presbyterian Church, and Mr. Sies is currently pursuing his Master of Divinity at Reformed Evangelical Seminary.

Mr. Sies loves stories. God reveals Himself to us in the form of a story and, when we reveal ourselves to others, we do so through the medium of story as well. In addition to storytelling, Mr. Sies enjoys hiking, drinking coffee, and hosting others with his wonderful family. In the time Mr. Sies is not doing this, you will most likely find him reading theology, Enlightenment philosophy, British Romantic poetry, or Brandon Sanderson.

Bonnie Cross
7th – 10th Aesthetics; 8th and 10th Humanities

Miss Cross is deeply passionate about art and art history, and desires to show students how creativity can be utilized to glorify God. Prior to The Oaks, Miss Cross taught art classes for homeschooled children and has given art history lectures at the Texas Academy of Figurative Art.

When she isn’t teaching or test-driving aesthetics activities, Miss Cross enjoys being outdoors, be it hiking, picnicking or swimming. You can also find her playing pickleball, painting, or spending afternoons at art museums.

Dr. Janet Gilchrist
Astronomy; Physics; Biology; Chemistry; Forensics

Dr. Gilchrist aspires to be a life-long learner, hoping to pass on her love of learning to her own children and those she currently teaches at her church, and Science classes at The Oaks.

Prior to meeting her husband, Dr. Gilchrist taught on the faculty at Vanderbilt University Medical School and subsequently directed a USDA-funded Clinical Nutrition Research Unit at the Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Although these positions offered opportunities to do important work, she is thankful to have spent the past 14 years at home with her children, focused on that which is eternal.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, gardening, cooking, and collecting and reading old books.

Jessica Waggener

Jessica Waggener is a lifelong educator with a deep desire to support students and families in joyful living-learning lifestyles. She met her husband at the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts and taught high school math at a Christian school in North Carolina.

During the 14 years that she homeschooled her own 3 children in NC, she continued to tutor high school math students while developing and leading classes for her Tapestry of Grace co-op, primarily in Rhetoric History and Science. In 2022, she relocated with her husband from Southeastern to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. She is thankful for the Lord leading her to a unique place of service here at The Oaks and for providing a faithful family of believers to share life with at Redeemer Church.

When she’s not helping students with math, her favorite places to be are in the garden and in the Word.
